FORMSHIELD™

Chemical release agent for concrete formwork

Product Description

FORMSHIELD™ is a low cost, highly effective release agent for metal, plastic, wood and composition forms. It is a blend of natural organic chemicals with surfactants supplied ready to use.

Uses

FORMSHIELD is used to provide quick, clean release of forms from concrete, without staining and without pitting. FORMSHIELD applied according to directions saves time and labour, reduces cost, and returns the form for re-use in a clean and maintenance-free manner. FORMSHIELD can be used on metal or plastic forms and on previously oiled or untreated plywood forms. It has excellent release properties, does not transfer wood grain markings and will not discolour or stain concrete. FORMSHIELD is applied as received by brush, spray, or roller to metal, plastic or plywood form. One or two heavy brush coats should be applied to the edges of plywood forms to protect the laminations. The surfaces of forms should receive one light, uniform coat. Avoid excessive build-up and runs or puddles since an excess of coating may retard the concrete.

FORMSHIELD is ideal for tubes, metal forms and pans. It prevents rusting and concrete build-up on buggies, power trowels, mixers, paving equipment and tools.

FORMSHIELD neutralises corrosive lye which rots wood forms and equipment. FORMSHIELD’s chemical reaction with fresh concrete imparts true release propeties which greatly facilitate stripping, rubbing and clean-up.

Benefits

Lower maintenance costs

The quick, clean release of forms minimises preparation for re-use. FORMSHIELD lengthens the life of wood forms by preventing the penetration of water and consequent deterioration of the plywood. FORMSHIELD lengthens the life of steel forms by preventing corrosion.

Lower job costs

Hand rubbing, required for most architectural concrete, is greatly facilitated by the smoother, denser concrete surface which results from use of FORMSHIELD.

FORMSHIELD also minimises finishing time by preventing stains, streaks and the transfer of grain markings to the concrete surface.

Coverage

The coverage of FORMSHIELD will vary with the materials used as formwork such as steel, plywood, timber or plastic. Generally FORMSHIELD will cover approximately 15 to 20 m2 / litre on wood and plywood and 20 to 25 m2 / litre on metal and plastic forms.

Method of Use

  • Forms should be free from dirt, hardened concrete and foreign matter.
  • Application may be made by brush, roller or spray.
  • Care should be taken to avoid splashing FORMSHIELD onto steel reinforcement.
  • FORMSHIELD is ready to use as received.
  • Before coating plywood forms, apply one or preferably two heavy brush coats onto the edges to protect laminations.
